Our talented team of people is key to our company’s success. Adrian Guzman is an assistant project manager who recently earned his MBA from Elmhurst College. Here are 9 questions to get to know him.

1. What do you like most about working for Tribco? The pride each employee has in their work. The office and field operations are always seeking ways to further the success of our work while taking into consideration safety and efficiency.

2. What’s your day-to-day look like? Every day is different! I’ve learned to write notes to serve as reminders. There have been days when my to-do list had 14 goals for the day, and by evening only one of my goals was achieved. Those days can be very hectic—learning to prioritize is important.

3. What’s the one lesson you’ve learned in this industry that’s stuck with you? Relationships are key. Once you’re in the industry, there will be individuals who will quickly become familiar faces although they may have worn a different company logo just a few months prior.

4. What project are you on now? 717 S. Clark in Chicago’s Printers Row, a fast-paced 31-story residential tower with 349 dwelling units and 192 parking spaces.

5. What’s your most memorable project? Other than my current onsite project, one of my favorite projects was the New Library and Archives Building in Nashville, Tenn., with our sister company Ceco Concrete Construction.

6. What’s the best part of your job? Independent problem-solving and being able to find efficient solutions is the best. Time is rarely on our side, so we learn to make decisions based on analysis, experience and the support from our project team.

7. How did you get started in the industry? Several family members work in small residential construction and encouraged me to apply for companies with a more expansive scope of work where I could learn and grow.

8. What advice can you give to someone looking into starting their career in construction? As previously mentioned, relationships and networking are important. I recommend reaching out to individuals that currently hold the position you are interested in and seeing if you are the right fit. Interning at companies also can lead to full-time opportunities.

9. What’s your favorite show? My roommate in college hooked me on “Survivor” on CBS. I’ve watched almost every season and have considered applying.
