CECO SAFETY TRAINING GOES BEYOND THE JOBSITE

At Ceco, the roots of our safety culture run deep. We are committed to practices and training that help us cultivate a safe work environment for a flourishing field operation. While Ceco seeks to send every employee home without injury at the end of each workday, the value of our safety training becomes priceless when our employees can apply what they have learned to save lives.
In January, Scott Junior, a Labor Foreman out of our Milwaukee office in Wisconsin, was at home with his family when his wife, Stephanie, began to choke on a piece of meat. When it became obvious that she could not talk or breathe, Scott jumped into action and performed the Heimlich maneuver. By wrapping his arms around Stephanie from behind and applying sharp pressure to her abdomen, just below the ribcage, Scott was able force air up her windpipe and dislodge the food that blocked her airway.
“My first attempt was unsuccessful, but then I took a breath and remembered my training and tried again,” says Scott, who learned how to perform the Heimlich maneuver during CPR training at Ceco. “I would not have had any idea what to do if it weren’t for that training.”
Afterward, Scott sent a message to his CPR instructor, Ceco North Regional Safety Director Ricky Porter: “Thank you for the training and the preparedness to react to the situation. My wife and I owe you.”
Thank you, Scott and Stephanie, for sharing your story. Safety training benefits us all, and we are grateful for every life saved and every accident prevented!
