Set to be complete October 2020, Luma at Miami Worldcenter is a 43-story residential tower that promises to provide downtown Miami with the city’s most luxurious rental apartments. The tower features 434 luxury units (maximum 12 per floor) with floor plans ranging from 566 to 1,808 square feet. Amenities include a membership-grade wellness center with treatment rooms and sauna, dog salon, fitness club and resort-style pool.

The project includes a 13-story concrete parking garage with 922 spaces and two levels of retail space. The estimated completion date for the garage is August 2020.

The project broke ground February 2019. Ceco Concrete is providing the concrete frame for each structure, which includes formwork, reinforcing steel supply and installation, concrete supply and installation, and hoisting and excavation for foundations. Formwork used for this project are Ceco’s aluminum gang forms, HV system and steel beam forms. The tower foundation was completed in August 2019 and the parking garage foundation was completed October 2019.

At the tower, Ceco is completing two pours per floor with a placing boom and mast. To provide maximum protection from falls and falling material below, the crew is using Ceco’s proprietary perimeter screen system. The cores are being formed with aluminum gang forms and the decks with the HV system. Steel beam forms are being used for the long-span post-tensioned concrete garage, which includes 35-foot-tall columns.

The high-rise building is a major component of the Miami Worldcenter, a 27-acre, $4 billion mixed-use development currently under construction and delivering in phases. Occupying 10 city blocks and surrounded by several points of interest—including Museum Park, PortMiami, American Airlines Arena, Brightline/Virgin Trains’ Miami Central station and Miami-Dade College’s Downtown campus—Miami Worldcenter will include 300,000 square feet of retail, destination dining and entertainment, more than 2,000 hotel rooms and up to 500,000 square feet of Class A office space.
