MEET THE TEAM: JUSTIN BOWEN, PROJECT EXECUTIVE

MEET THE TEAM: JUSTIN BOWEN, PROJECT EXECUTIVE

Dec 21st 2021

At Ceco, we value diverse backgrounds and experiences. Our team members’ varied depth of expertise allows us to provide an innovative, holistic approach to clients’ projects.

A structural engineer by education, Justin Bowen, PE, brings a strong background in testing and inspections to his project management roles at Ceco. The Alabama native received a bachelor’s degree and a master of science in civil engineering (MSCE) from the University of South Florida (USF). He spent 10 years working in testing and inspections for GEC in Georgia and for MACTEC in California and Florida. He spent another two years designing bridges for URS Corp., an AECOM Company, prior to joining Ceco. Justin also has worked on project sites from coast to coast, spending a year in New England and three years in San Diego, California, before settling down in Tampa, Florida, in 2004.

Justin joined Ceco in 2015. In 2019, he co-authored a technical paper, “Reinforcing Bar Pullout Bond in Tremi-Placed Concrete Cast in Drilling Slurry Environments,” which was published in the American Concrete Institute’s Structure Journal. He was recently promoted to Project Executive. Learn more about Justin and his new role below:

What is the objective of your new position?
Overall, to grow Ceco’s North Florida market share with a focus on maintaining our high expectations for safety and turning over quality projects on time and within budget for customers.

What vision do you bring to this role?
I want Ceco to be the shell contractor that everyone WANTS to work with. I hope to provide leadership and stability while continuing to learn and grow. We have a good core team in Tampa, and we utilize all the resources that Ceco makes available us to be one of the best groups in the company.

What personal expertise do you bring to your job?
I often lean on my abilities to think on my toes and maintain open lines of communication. My path to Ceco had some twists and turns, which has allowed me to experience many different issues and types of people. With that experience, I have been able to hone my problem-solving skills, and I am good at getting to the root of a problem and then following through to ensure it is resolved. My path has also helped me build a network of colleagues and friends who have been very beneficial to my successes. I’d like to think that if there is an issue, people will reach out to me because they know it will get resolved.

For customers, what are the benefits of working with Ceco?
There are two things that you get when working with Ceco: a safe job and the knowledge that we will do everything in our power to meet our commitments. Even if items are outside our control, Ceco will always do the right thing and strive to turn over a quality project on schedule.

What hobbies do you enjoy?
Spending time with my family. I am a proud husband and a father to a 2-year-old and a 2-month old, and it is the greatest joy I have known. They challenge me every day to be a better person and father. I just want to be a good example to them and make my family proud. I also am a huge college football fan—where I am from, it is a religion. I love my South Florida Bulls and Auburn Tigers! On any Saturday during the fall, you can catch me watching game day with my sons and tailgating with our family group.
