TRIBCO COMPLETES HARDSCAPE FOR LUXURY APARTMENTS

TRIBCO COMPLETES HARDSCAPE FOR LUXURY APARTMENTS

Jan 21st 2021

Tribco recently applied finishing touches at 717 S. Clark (aka Imprint) in the form of hardscape work. In December, the Tribco team wrapped up 2020 by topping out at the 30-story luxury apartment tower in Chicago’s Printer Row neighborhood.

Originally, project owner Lendlease Corp. wanted curved precast concrete planters and benches in the garden area on Level 6. However, after Tribco bid the complete cast-in-place concrete frame scope, we were asked to consider a cast-in-place hardscape option that proved beneficial in multiple ways.HardscapeThe cast-in-place option negated the need to plan for (and wait on) fabrication, giving the design team more time to determine how to incorporate the unique hardscape elements into the building design. It also allowed greater flexibility in coordinating with electrical and other MEP conflicts that often can arise as projects progress. Finally, because Tribco provided the hardscape along with the concrete frame, one less contractor was required on the jobsite.

By collaborating with the architect, the Tribco team achieved a high-quality look both in finish and color for these exposed, high-curvature elements. The lobby bench serves as the central artistic concrete feature in the main entrance to the building. The planter benches, poured with dyed concrete, serve as supporting architectural components.
